Passive Sentence
This page contains the Japanese grammar for a passive sentence.
In a passive sentence, the direct object is being acted upon but we don’t know who is doing the action. In this example, The bill (object that is now the subject) was (verb) paid (object). In this passive sentence we don’t know who paid the bill, only that it was paid. To juxtapose the example, In an active sentence the subject performs the the action to the object – We know who performs the action.
