| How are you in Japanese is used more so than in occidental countries. In English, we have many variations of ‘how are you’. Not so much in Japan – it seems like it’s the staple. This is why it’s hard teaching variations of how are you in English to Japanese people. They seem quite happy replying with the ‘I’m find thank you’ reply. Other useful greeting phrases are: good evening, good morning, good night, hello, and long time no see. |
