Do you mind if I smoke?
| This page contains the Japanese phrase: Do you mind if I smoke? |
| If you smoke, you’re going to love Japan. It’s the land of the smoker. You can smoke almost anywhere; restaurants, bars, and taxis; but it is getting tougher and eventually the laws will kick in where you will not be able to smoke in most places, it’s just a matter of time. Nevertheless, smoking is not as frowned upon as it is in the west because most people know people who smoke: mothers, fathers, lovers or bakers – it’s still in vogue. Cigarettes are super cheap here but they too are going up in price. When I arrived they were 300 yen a pack, now they are going up to 430 yen a pack – still comparatively cheaper than most occidental countries. |
