I understand
This page contains the Japanese phrase: I understand.
I understand in Japanese is a way to tell the speaker you are still listening and haven’t gone off to daydream land. Remember to try and keep focused when listening to Japanese be spoken to you. This may sound strange, but you also have to say ‘hai’ here and there to appease the speaker to go on, (even though sometimes you’d rather they didn’t). Always keep a smile on your face in these situations.
